About Terra Rossa Capital

We bring together internationally experienced entrepreneurs, venture capitalists and investment managers for the benefit of our investment portfolio.

Based in Adelaide, Australia, the fund management company was established in 2006 by Dr. Jurgen Michaelis, now the Chair of the Terra Rossa Capital Investment Committee.

Terra Rossa Capital is privately owned and currently manages under full delegation the South Australian Life Sciences Advancement (SALSA) Fund. SALSA has a primary remit to make investments in South Australian life science companies, or in companies that are substantially connected to South Australia while retaining flexibility to invest outside the life science field and outside South Australia. Terra Rossa Capital is likely to manage other funds in the future and these may have different remits and goals.

SALSA is incorporated as a separate legal entity under the Australian Venture Capital Limited Partnership legislation. The fund is supported by one limited partner: MTAA Super.

MTAA Super is one of Australia’s larger and, over more than twenty years of operation, best performing industry-based superannuation funds. It has over $6 billion under management and more than 250,000 members. MTAA Super’s investment strategy includes a substantial allocation to a range of alternative asset classes (including venture capital and private equity) which creates a greater diversity of opportunities for value growth in the fund’s overall portfolio.
